I went through the Amazon interview process recently.
The coding part was fair; the questions were reasonable and manageable if you're comfortable with data structures and problem-solving.
The behavioral portion, however, was the main focus. They went very deep into the "Leadership Principles" and asked for multiple detailed examples for different scenarios.
I felt prepared for coding but underestimated how much weight they place on behavioral answers. Even though the conversation itself went okay, I didn’t receive an offer.
My main takeaway is: if you're preparing, spend as much time on Amazon’s behavioral style questions as you do on coding. They really want to see structured, concrete stories aligned with their principles.
I would recommend others prepare a strong set of STAR examples ahead of time.
