I'd say that most of the experience was good, but there are definitely some people at Checkr and processes that should be addressed. One of the interviews was the worst experience I've ever had when interviewing for a company. I got to the end of the on-site only to be met with a super condescending and hostile interviewer. I knew I would not get an offer after the interview with her.
So when I got the official confirmation of denial, I reported the feedback to the recruiter. They were responsive to my email, but that experience was a red flag in regards to their workplace culture.
The recruiter was great and responsive, which I really appreciated. The phone screen was as per usual for companies.
The technical screen was a name-matching exercise and it went really well; the interviewer was great.
The on-site is where things started to go downhill as far as experience. The first interviewer for the refactoring exercise didn't even know the role I was applying to and kept telling me what to do throughout instead of a typical interview where they introduce you to the problem and let you explain your thought process. Aside from this, I'd say this part was okay.
The second interview was an object design interview, basically a database design for one of their projects.
The third interview was a nightmare. It was supposed to be a technical deep dive on a project, but unfortunately, the interviewer was extremely uninterested, hostile, and cruel. As I explained my project, she did not care to listen. I did not get a fair interview here, which was apparent based on biased statements she made at the beginning of the interview.
