The interview process spanned about 2 months from beginning to end, so it was a big emotional rollercoaster. During that time, the job and role changed, but they encouraged me to continue interviewing. Each interview was a tag team of 2 individuals for 45 minutes. I felt that everyone was cordial and easy to speak with until one question was asked: “Have you played the game?” This took me off guard. Later, it came up in the feedback that I hadn’t played or downloaded the game, which isn’t a requirement for the position. I’ve worked in at least 4 major different industries and never was asked to know about the industry products before I was hired. Needless to say, the feedback was very positive, and the job evolved, which felt unfair to me. They said if the job was the same as what I applied for, it would have been a great fit. I felt a little betrayed and wasn’t sure how to react. It felt like they needed a gamer, which a friend of mine had told me before.
Likely would not interview again for a position at EPIC.
Have you played Fortnite?
