Quality Assurance Engineer • Current Employee
Pros: - Adequate training, though the certifications they have you take are less than useful
- Campus look is unique and elegant
- Excellent Healthcare benefits, while other benefits are standard
- Some nice perks like no interest computer loans
- Company is well respected within the community and receives discounts at plenty of local businesses
- Starting pay is generally higher than average and raises can be excellent
- Sabbatical (4 weeks paid vacation) after 5 years employment, but only if you are in "good" standing with the company
- Stock Appreciation Rights rewarded, but only able to be redeemed after 5 years
- Hiring right out of college is the norm, so training for positions tends to be expected, meaning you don't have to have prior experience to work in most of the positions (developers are excluded from this expectation)
Cons: - Management is undertrained, selected based on productivity rather than leadership skills
- Hours expected is unreasonable, depending on position, compared to pay
- Leadership does not get increase in pay
- Upward mobility is nearly non-existent
- Company is not family friendly
- Job experience and tenure relies heavily on who your supervisor (team lead) is
- Company is extremely secretive regarding certain processes and practices such as pay, raises, and advancement to team leadership roles
- Management feels too clique-ish; being selected as management is clique-ish as well (and can appear sexist)
- There is no employee loyalty or longevity in the positions attained.
- The company is concerned with not nickel and diming their clients, but they are more than happy to do so with their employees
- Non-Compete agreement severely limits employees who leave the company; it is extremely limiting for those wishing to work for healthcare organizations that are partners with Epic
-- Currently the non-compete is limited to 1 year, but they have had issues recently with trying to extend the non-compete to 2 years
- Average age of employee is 25, but feels like 21-22; the atmosphere feels quite immature
