I applied on LinkedIn for a posting in Austin, TX. Epic responded to my application in a timely manner and set up a phone interview a few days later.
I was interviewed by a developer and had a great conversation where he asked about my projects, my experience, and my background in design. I learned more about the culture and was excited about the position, but when he asked if I was willing to relocate to Madison, WI, I was very confused. The LinkedIn posting clearly said Austin, TX, and I let him know about the issue. He was confused as well and let me know that he'd reach out to the recruiter to let her know, and I'd hear back soon.
My initial recruiter reached out the next day to let me know they were sorry I would not consider relocating and wished me luck in my search. I was still very confused about the posting and the fact that there were dozens of jobs available in the Austin area for Epic.
She stated that it was a mistake on LinkedIn and they would fix the issue soon.
I did some more exploring and found that they had multiple jobs posted in other cities across the US, but mostly in the Chicago area. This clearly was not a mistake. I find this practice misleading for anyone applying for their company. Frankly, it's dishonest.
