Production Engineering Manager Interview Experience - United States

Process

A recruiter contacted me for a 30-minute discussion.

The first interview was with the manager. They asked about my current team structure, how I deal with struggling employees, and my management style.

The second interview was technical. It covered very low-level OS, system calls, user space, and kernel questions.

For a management position, the questions were very low-level system questions. I wasn't asked to come on-site for an interview.

Questions

What happens in a system when you run ls?

All the way down to system calls, how is the kernel used to run the command?

If you had a system that crashed every time you turned it on, how would you troubleshoot the problem?

How would you use virtualization to sandbox the problem?

Was this helpful?
