Android Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

Terrible interview process. I wish I had never applied. First, they will not consider any code samples you have, and you cannot talk to a real engineer under any circumstances until you do their Minesweeper coding challenge.

The recruiter also implied that the engineer's time was more important than mine. Very unprofessional on their part, but I need a job, so I did the coding challenge. It says it takes 1-2 hours, but it is grossly underrated because, in order to even do the app, you need to have many images with multiple sizes before the coding even starts.

I reluctantly did the coding challenge and was rejected. They actually gave feedback this time, but it was very debatable and subjective, like "you didn't use the 'best' view to solve the problem."

I really don't think they are hiring if they are this picky. Other reviewers here say they have such high standards that they have no people. I'm willing to agree on that.

The recruiter told me they had no Android Engineers. Who knows who is actually reviewing my code? The only thing I know is that they aren't working currently as an Android Engineer. It is scary to think that your career is in someone's hands that doesn't even work in the field.
