My experience was actually the worst interview I’ve ever had. Initially, I talked with the talent acquisition representative. They wanted to get a feel for my background and experience, and they seemed like they were reading a script. Quite literally, they didn’t know what the job actually pertained to.
They then set me up with my first interview, which was canceled 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time. The reason given was internet issues, even though the entire job is reliant on the internet.
So, I waited a week and met for my second interview. I was told it would be with one person, yet two people sat in on my interview unannounced. The questions were relatively easy, however, some were more odd than others and were never entirely clear, as if they were purposefully being vague.
They then described the work environment as almost toxic. They hold weekly meetings dedicated to disagreements on video moderation, where analysts and moderators essentially debate who is correct on why a video should/shouldn’t be removed.
One interviewer then asked me, “If you saw this type of video, what would you do and why?” Essentially, they wanted me to have memorized a multiple-page document outlining the company’s policies.
I work a full-time job and do not have time to memorize TikTok’s guidelines. That is unfair to expect out of an applicant and furthermore shows how unrealistically demanding this job actually is.
When I asked the interviewer what her favorite part about her job was, she stated, “The policies.” That’s when I ultimately knew this job was not for me, and it does not seem like a fun environment; it looks to be.
