Software Engineer New Grad Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

  1. Referred by someone.
  2. After two weeks, the recruiter reached out with a HackerRank test.
  3. After two weeks, an onsite invitation.
  4. After the onsite, I was notified that I interviewed well but needed to wait for team matching.

At first, there was a team interested in taking me, but they ended up saying that they do not have openings. Since then, it has been more than a month, and I am still waiting for team matching. I guess their headcount for new graduates is filled up really fast or is very limited.

This interview process was really long and torturing. What's worse is that they never gave an explicit timeline about anything. They usually informed me with a short period like, "We will get back to you within this week / five days / next week..." but it has been way more than two weeks.

I don't mind waiting, but please provide a better estimation of the timeline to candidates. Don't give a short period that builds up candidates' expectations and then ghosts them.

For other people who are interviewing with this company in the future, be prepared that you may be ghosted. Do not put too much hope into it, or else you may feel really frustrated.
