My interview process was done in January 2020. Things may have changed, so here it goes:
I first had a basic chat with the recruiter about my experience. The person did not seem to care much about the conversion, because for them, a candidate is only taken seriously if they pass the technical test. After this, I was sent the test through the Codility app.
Now, this is the part where Typeform and many other companies, I believe, are falling.
The test is automated. It only checks the final result of an algorithm, nothing more. My result had probably an 80% score or more, but my answers did not match exactly with the expected output. In one of the exercises, I had probably an extra space or something minor compared to the expected result. But again, as it is an automated thing, it was marked as wrong. My final score was under 30%.
The rejection was made quickly. No technical person reviewed the code. I communicated these thoughts to the recruiter but got no answer.
I believe this "robotic" way of doing recruitment can really hurt the industry (companies and candidates). They are trying to automate a process that should never be automated.
