Process

The interview process began with a telephonic interview, followed by on-site interviews.

The on-site portion consisted of:

  • 2 coding rounds
  • 1 design round
  • 1 Hiring Manager (HM) interview
  • 1 Bar Raiser (BR) interview

All of these were scheduled for the same day. However, the BR did not attend, so that interview was rescheduled for three days later.

My experience with the coding rounds was neutral. However, the feedback the recruiter sent me for the telephonic interview was incorrect. I provided the most optimized answer for the question (which I verified later), yet the feedback stated I was not able to optimize. After the on-site coding rounds, the recruiter informed me that the feedback was very good and that 50% of the selection process was complete.

Regarding the design round, it was a pathetic experience. The problem had nothing to do with system design and was instead a simple algorithm related to sampling points. The interviewer tried hard to challenge me, but there was nothing substantial in the question to do so. Consequently, they started discussing random topics like images and Google Maps, and it was unclear where the discussion was intended to lead, especially since it was a one-hour round and the core discussion concluded within the first 10 minutes. Following this, the recruiter mentioned that the feedback for this round was not good.

Next was the Hiring Manager round. The HM was from my previous company. They began asking me questions about my past employer as if I were still employed there. I felt they were hiring for Uber, not my former company. I found this encounter to be utterly unprofessional.

The BR round did not occur as they could not find a BR, which greatly frustrated me. I had traveled hundreds of miles for this interview, and they were unable to arrange for a BR. The round was rescheduled for three days later and was supposed to last an hour, but it only lasted 30 minutes, and I was asked the exact same questions as in the HM interview.

After this, the recruiter asked for my current salary and stated they would inform me within a day, which they did not. I followed up via email and phone three days later, but received no response. I understood then that I was not selected, but I felt a simple reply of "Not hired" would have sufficed.

My return flight was delayed significantly, forcing me to wait at the airport for 5-6 hours with no other options.

Questions

Just cram up the InterviewBit and GeeksforGeeks websites. That's all. The interviewer will himself or herself open the GFG website before you and start looking for questions on it to ask you.
