Senior QA Engineer Interview Experience - Foster City, California

March 1, 2017
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process consists of three steps:

  • Online phone screen
  • HackerRank
  • Onsite interview

The HackerRank assessment was poorly designed and felt very random.

The onsite interview was long. The team conducting the interview seemed average, and I could tell they don't have much experience with interviewing. For example, one interviewer asked how to calculate data center load using JMeter.

The directors were obnoxious. They have been with the company for over 10 years and expect candidates to possess the same domain knowledge they have.

Overall, the Glassdoor reviews about Visa are accurate. It's like a government company where people are just holding onto their positions.

My feeling from the onsite interview was that it's not a good company to work for.

The recruiter was not professional either. He said the team liked me, but they needed to review other candidates before making a decision. So, what was he expecting from me? To wait?

I moved on and accepted another offer. :)
