A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer Intern for their Parkersburg, WV office. This paid full-time internship runs from June through August 2025 (flexible) with potential transition to a Full-Time Junior Engineer Role upon graduation. As a 100% employee-owned firm with approximately 500 employees, AMT offers a unique opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment focused on innovation and collaboration.

The role involves supporting various engineering projects, including regulatory reviews, cost estimates, and procurement support. Interns will gain hands-on experience in data management, report preparation, and field assignments under the guidance of experienced Project Managers and Team Leaders.

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Experience with engineering software like AutoCAD and MicroStation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities For Transportation Engineer Intern

  • Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support
  • Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation
  • Support the preparation of reports, plans, and specifications for clients
  • Work on field assignments as needed
  • Work with leaders, mentors, and teammates
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Requirements For Transportation Engineer Intern

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Pursuing Bachelor or Associates Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid technical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, MathCAD, Bentley Microstation, etc.) preferred
