Job Description
AfterQuery is at the forefront of advancing LLMs and AI Agents through innovative datasets and experimentation, partnering with leading AI labs and becoming a key data infrastructure provider for YC companies. As a Founding Full-Stack Engineer, you will have end-to-end ownership of projects driving AI evaluation, working on both research engineering (designing RL environments, agentic systems, evaluation harnesses) and platform engineering (building human-in-the-loop platforms, scaling data infrastructure, designing annotator workflows). The role involves prototyping new RL environments, deploying distributed experiments on Kubernetes, improving Next.js dashboards, and building Kafka pipelines for annotator analytics.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced, talent-dense team that is defining the future of data and AI evaluation. You'll gain exposure to cutting-edge data and model capabilities months before they hit the market, shaping core systems from day one. The compensation for this role is $160,000 - $220,000, along with a generous equity grant vested over 4 years, daily lunch & dinner covered, and a free gym membership. Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable systems: RL environments, APIs, and human-in-the-loop platforms
- Collaborate across research, product, and design to ship features quickly
- Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to documentation
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions
- Solve real-world scalability and reliability challenges
- Contribute to the core infrastructure powering data and evaluation for leading AI labs
Requirements
- US-undergrad
- Exp from tier 1 trading firms as a SWE/quant (Citadel/JS/HRT/Old Mission/IMC/Optiver etc)
- From a high-growth startup (either series A-B, from tier 1 investors, e.g., Delve, Ramp, Palantir, Listen Labs, Decagon, etc)
- Late-stage successful startups (Figma, Scale AI, etc)
- Ex-YC CTOs (from failed startups, but they must have gone through YC)
- Big tech is fine (FAANG, Bloomberg, etc)
- Ivy League or T10 school in the US
- US/Canada/UK/AUS high-school
