Job Description
Agave (YC W22) is modernizing the construction industry by connecting fragmented systems with proprietary APIs and a modern UI. They've raised $3M from YC, Accel, and leaders from Plaid, Procore, Autodesk, and PlanGrid. As a Software Engineer, you'll simplify complex systems, unify data, and build high-scale backend systems, connecting with on-prem systems built 20-40 years ago. You'll address challenges like unification, on-prem connectivity, scale and speed, and operational excellence.
The role involves a mix of back-end and front-end work, dog-fooding their own APIs, building both lego blocks and higher-level models. The company handles millions of API requests daily and iterates quickly based on customer feedback. Responsibilities
- Unify dozens-to-hundreds of fragmented systems under a single standard
- Design new features in a scalable way
- Support real-time communication and webhooks when they don’t exist
- Store and retrieve large amounts of data in an efficient way, building elegant caching layers to reduce latency
- Ship code daily and iterate quickly based on actual feedback from paying customers
- Create a reliable API layer on top of many old systems that don’t have APIs
- Innovate in expanding the depth and breadth of integrations while simultaneously increasing development velocity
- Create scalable testing frameworks that can catch edge cases and bugs across 1k+ endpoints
- Build front-end apps that dog-food our own APIs
Requirements
- 1-5 years of experience
- Must be able to work independently without much guidance
