AWS Region Services is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join their growing team focused on building solutions for complex problems that will scale for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC). ADCs bring AWS cloud solutions to a wide range of customers, countries, and organizations. The ideal candidate will be able to understand complex scenarios and innovate on behalf of customers to deliver innovative solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable solutions
- Collaborating with a team of engineers to influence overall strategy and define the team's roadmap
- Driving system architecture and best practices for quality products
- Coaching and developing junior engineers
- Challenging themselves and teammates to grow professionally
- Communicating designs and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Exploring new ideas and taking contrarian viewpoints when beneficial for customers
- Thinking critically about long-term growth and scaling to meet global demand
- Working with business teams to understand customer issues and deliver innovative solutions
- Developing solutions to complex problems through process improvements or automation
- Managing and growing production-quality tools using languages like Python, Perl, Ruby, Shell, and Java
The position may be located in northern Virginia (Arlington HQ2 or Herndon) or Seattle, Washington.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in the lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in the highest geographic market, with additional compensation potentially including equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
