Description For Mechanical Colocation Regional Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Mechanical Colo Regional Engineer, you will drive Mechanical Engineering services, construction and implementation of enterprise data centers, which meet quality and performance levels across the globe. You will work directly with Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and globally.

Key responsibilities include: • Review designs for new Data Centers in your region • Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures • Support operational issues and provide technical support for data center upgrades • Interface with various teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability • Lead engineering site audits and produce reports outlining risks and recommendations • Develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects

The ideal candidate should have: • Strong engineering judgment and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty • Detail and data-oriented approach • Experience managing engineering projects and consultants • Ability to build trust and relationships with different stakeholders • Inclination to get into the field for hands-on work

Requirements For Mechanical Colocation Regional Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
  • Cumulative 7+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering
  • 5+ years of experience directly related to data center design (preferred)
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers (preferred)
  • Experience as resident engineer or hands-on design consultant (preferred)
