Description For Control Systems Engineer Manager - Sumner, WA

Control Systems Engineer Manager position at Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team. This role focuses on maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance of fulfillment center systems. Key responsibilities include coordinating work for Control Systems Techs/Leads, supporting MHE systems optimization, troubleshooting material handling control systems, monitoring MHE metrics, mentoring team members, and acting as a technical consultant for capital projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in automation controls, industrial networks, and material handling systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and plan work activities for Control Systems Techs/Leads
  • Support MHE systems optimization and project implementation
  • Troubleshoot and maintain material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and analyze system performance
  • Provide escalation support and mentor team members
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Apply expertise to maximize building utilization of systems
  • Partner with operations leadership and vendors for new technology installations
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines
  • Assist with skill assessments for technical positions
  • Handle flexible workload and participate in AE conference calls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional or military experience
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated alarms, reports, and KPI metrics
  • SQL and relational database experience
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, and controls components
  • Experience with HMI, control networks, motor controls, and SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with programming software like RSLogix5000 studio and FT View
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Systems integration and field service engineering experience
  • Experience with industrial robotics and ASRS systems
