Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the cloud running worldwide. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers. You'll maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

The role involves hands-on work with mission-critical equipment such as standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, and mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, and air handlers. You'll be responsible for monitoring building management systems, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring 24/7 reliability of AWS data centers.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance and perform tasks on ladder
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
