Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join their world-class team maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems. As part of Earth's most customer-centric company, you'll work in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers, supporting AWS's position as the global leader in cloud computing.

The role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, working with cutting-edge technology in a mission-critical environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining 24/7 reliability of data center operations, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex systems, and ensuring optimal performance of critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining electrical systems (including UPS units, PDUs, and generators), mechanical systems (including HVAC, chillers, and cooling towers), and fire/life safety equipment. You'll work with building management systems, perform technical writing, and manage various facility-related projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
