Amazon is seeking an innovative Interdisciplinary System Engineer to join their global initiative in developing next-generation fulfillment systems. This role combines hardware engineering, automation, and IoT technology to drive innovation in Amazon's sophisticated supply chain operations. As part of the Science & Advanced Concepts (SAC) Team, you'll work on optimizing material handling operations and enhancing automation through simulation/emulation and pilot development.

The position requires expertise in hardware engineering, controls systems, and programming, with a focus on developing and configuring IoT hardware for equipment and process improvements. You'll collaborate with scientists and engineers to create advanced simulation models and implement innovative solutions for the North America fulfillment network.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in integrated automation project lifecycle, including custom product development, design, implementation, and support. You'll lead complex cross-functional projects, working with cutting-edge technology and some of the most talented engineers in the field.

Key aspects of the role include designing and developing hardware solutions for material handling challenges, creating IIoT systems for workflow improvements, and ensuring optimal integration of systems for safety, security, and efficiency. Responsibilities For Interdisciplinary Sys Engineer, GES NA Ops Engineering

  • Lead and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects
  • Design, develop, and emulate engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges
  • Design, develop and configure IIoT hardware for equipment, process and operator workflow improvements
  • Lead and coordinate concept efforts for optimal solutions for the North America fulfillment network
  • Work with Scientists to create highly advanced simulation models
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure documentation and change control
  • Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams for innovative solutions
  • Manage multiple projects while effectively influencing and communicating with partners
  • Create technical artifacts and set engineering excellence standards
  • Travel up to 30% throughout North America

Requirements For Interdisciplinary Sys Engineer, GES NA Ops Engineering

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field
  • 3+ years' experience as Hardware engineer, product manager, manufacturing engineer, or related occupation
  • 2+ years of experiences as a Hardware Engineering with responsibility for Controls Engineering
  • Experience working with and configuring sensors and edge compute devices in industrial environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge in Emulate 3D
  • Experience or Knowledge in PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens and/or IPC)
  • Experience or Knowledge in Python, C++ or similar programming language
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, MATLAB, Sketchup, or other advanced design software
