Description For Network Development Engineer, Office Network Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the Global Connectivity and Network Availability (GCNA) Organization. This role is crucial in designing and maintaining AWS's global network infrastructure that connects data centers worldwide. You'll be responsible for developing next-generation SDWAN/Edge network solutions, automating network deployments, and ensuring smooth operations across 500+ remote offices.

The position offers an opportunity to work on one of the world's largest networks, tackling unique challenges at unprecedented scale. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions for complex networking problems, focusing on cost-effectiveness, performance, and reliability. The role involves designing cloud-based networking solutions using AWS services like Transit Gateway, NAT gateways, and AWS Network Firewall.

Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, Office Network Engineering

  • Design next generation of SDWAN/Edge network using Cloud based technologies
  • Automate deployment of network devices gateways using infrastructure as code
  • Deploy, scale and automate network across global POP locations and AWS regions
  • Create simple, repeatable deployment processes
  • Work with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams
  • Create and update network standards
  • Create and review documentation and processes
  • Lead design, network/code and security reviews
  • Participate in 24x7 team on-call rotation

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, Office Network Engineering

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems
  • 4+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
  • Experience with router platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto
