Description For Security Engineer, AWS Cloud Security Response

The AWS Cloud Response Team is seeking a Security Engineer to join their dynamic security operations team. This role is crucial in managing the security and availability of AWS Cloud services, operating on the AWS side of the Shared Responsibility Model. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud security technologies while protecting millions of AWS customers worldwide.

As a Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for triaging and managing security incidents, coordinating with multiple teams across AWS, and driving security improvements at scale. The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and security judgment. You'll work in a follow-the-sun model with teams across four geographical locations, ensuring 24/7 coverage of AWS security operations.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience in security operations or related fields, with strong knowledge of systems, network, and application security. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, AWS Cloud Security Response

  • Triage new incoming security issues and determine risk levels
  • Communicate security issues to various audiences including executive level
  • Participate in promoting security throughout the company
  • Manage priorities while remaining productive and effective
  • Escalate issues appropriately based on impact
  • Identify and implement improvements to tools and processes
  • Fulfill regular on-call responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate security response activities
  • Drive security related issues to resolution across service teams

Requirements For Security Engineer, AWS Cloud Security Response

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, cybersecurity, or 4+ years' equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience on a Security Operations team
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with systems, network, and/or application security
  • Understanding of best practices across multiple security disciplines/domains
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
  • Strong knowledge of web protocols, common attacks, and Linux/Unix tools
  • 2+ years experience with scripting or programming languages
