Description For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Telemetry and Command

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As a Software Development Engineer on the Atlas team, you'll be at the forefront of developing mission-critical infrastructure that powers the entire satellite operation.

The role involves building and maintaining sophisticated systems for processing vast amounts of satellite telemetry data, creating real-time monitoring solutions, and ensuring exceptional reliability across the platform. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology in space communications while developing systems that directly impact global connectivity.

Responsibilities For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Telemetry and Command

  • Create systems and services for ingesting, processing, and visualizing satellite telemetry data
  • Build real-time monitoring systems to identify anomalies and detect emerging trends
  • Develop proactive alert systems for critical situations
  • Ensure high reliability, uptime, and performance across telemetry systems
  • Collaborate with team members to build strong software foundation
  • Help onboard new team members

Requirements For Software Development Engineer, Kuiper Telemetry and Command

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of system design and architecture experience
  • Experience with at least one programming language
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control requirements
