Join the Alexa Playback Experience Team at Amazon, where you'll have the opportunity to impact customer experience, design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge products used daily.

As a System Development Engineer, you'll have independent technical ownership of new customer features and supporting Native AWS architecture. You'll learn in-demand skills like Gen AI and Large Language Models, building voice control interfaces and scalable API platforms. Working directly with Product Management and Design, you'll refine the customer experience for Alexa featured products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating new services, troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving computer-identified alarms
  • Making feature enhancements, bug fixes, and systems management
  • Performing software deployments and migrations
  • Host management and automating routine operational tasks
  • Developing tools and automations for human-free operations

You'll collaborate across disciplines, working with product managers, UX designers, researchers, and business intelligence engineers to innovate, measure, analyze, and refine experiences delivered to millions of customers globally.

The role requires a combination of strong troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills. It includes a mix of on-call and operational tasks, along with small to medium-level software development work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Bachelor's degree

Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package and a total compensation approach. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year to $201,200/year, depending on the geographic market. Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
