As a Founding Applied AI Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building next-generation AI systems that power personalized recommendations and automate complex requests for some of the most influential people in the world.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how AI transforms luxury travel, payments, and experiences. You'll be working on meaningful, user-facing AI products within a small, world-class team of about 35 people split between New York and San Francisco. The position requires hybrid work with at least three days in the SF office.
Key responsibilities include designing AI recommendation systems for hotels, dining, and flights, implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and building preference engines that evolve with member interactions. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software development experience, strong AI/ML expertise, and a track record of building production systems with modern technologies like Python, Node.js, or Go.

Responsibilities For Founding Applied AI Engineer
- Design and ship real-world AI systems that personalize recommendations
- Build AI recommendation and booking flows (hotels, dining, flights)
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems for dynamic hotel and travel searches
- Create preference engines that learn and evolve from member interactions
- Build lightweight AI orchestration layers integrated with Zendesk, Slack, and internal tools
Requirements For Founding Applied AI Engineer
- 5+ years experience developing software in modern environments (Python, Node.js, Go, or similar)
- 3+ years experience deploying and scaling cloud-based applications (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Deep experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face) and building production AI systems
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and vector search
- Solid understanding of database design (Postgres, Redis, vector DBs)
- Strong optimization skills, especially for low-latency, high-availability systems
- Product instincts
