As a Mechanical Design Engineer for Production Tooling, you'll play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge tooling, equipment, and processes for manufacturing these revolutionary aircraft.

The position combines practical engineering expertise with creative problem-solving, requiring you to leverage your industry experience while exploring new solutions through research and experimentation. You'll have access to advanced CAD modeling and analysis tools, including structural, thermal, and CFD capabilities, to ensure your designs meet all safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer - Production Tooling

  • Design tools, jigs, fixtures, and machines to support manufacturing processes
  • Develop solutions for efficiency, rate, quality, ergonomics, and safety
  • Rethink manufacturing processes for optimization
  • Work with product design team to improve manufacturability
  • Lead process ideation, creation, and development efforts
  • Support commissioning and validation of tooling and equipment
  • Prototype and test tooling concepts
  • Fabricate and modify parts including machining and welding
  • Develop maintenance and troubleshooting documentation
  • Stay current with manufacturing R&D

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer - Production Tooling

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering with Mechanical Design focus
  • Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks or Catia preferred) with Structural FEA experience
  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y-14.5)
  • Experience in Composites, Thermal Design, Structural Analysis, Shock and Vibe
  • Self-starter with good organization, discipline, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google G-Suite
  • Must be able to be active for 8-hour shift
  • Able to lift 25lbs
  • Able to work on computer for several hours
