Description For COPD (Customer Owned Physical Design) Engineer

Broadcom is seeking a senior COPD (Customer Owned Physical Design) Engineer to join their team as a Technical Lead for Physical Designs. This role is perfect for experienced engineers who excel in physical design, STA, DFT, and packaging, with a proven track record of successful chip tape-outs. The position involves leading both external and internal cross-functional teams while working on cutting-edge projects in AI, ML, HPC, and networking.

As a COPD Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing customer ASIC programs from start to finish, serving as the primary interface between customers and Broadcom's internal teams. You'll provide expert guidance on EDA best practices, design methodologies, and risk management. The role requires a deep understanding of advanced technology nodes and the ability to analyze complex design challenges.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of experience with a BS in Electrical Engineering (or 10+ years with an MS), demonstrating expertise in physical design verification, ASIC design flows, and low power design. Responsibilities For COPD (Customer Owned Physical Design) Engineer

  • Manage external customer ASIC programs from inception to finish
  • Be primary point of interface between customer and Broadcom internal engineering teams
  • Advise customers on best practices in EDA, flows and design methodologies
  • Proactively assess potential risks to design quality and project schedule
  • Execute physical design flows to check incoming customer tape-in netlists
  • Participate in discussions with marketing, sales, legal and regulatory compliance teams
  • Provide technical expertise to internal engineering teams for critical projects

Requirements For COPD (Customer Owned Physical Design) Engineer

Linux
  • Multiple tape-outs in advanced technology nodes (16 FinFet and lower)
  • Analyze PPA tradeoffs involved amongst various library components and architectures
  • Knowledge in low power design and power management
  • Hands-on experience in physical design and STA
  • Experience with EDA tools for physical design verification and sign-off
  • Knowledge of ASIC design flow including physical design, logic simulation, test, and packaging
  • Programming in TCL, shell and scripting languages
  • BS in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years experience or MS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years experience
