Description For Emulation/Silicon Validation Engineer

Broadcom's Core Switch Group (CSG) is seeking an Emulation/Silicon Validation Engineer to join their industry-leading team in networking ASICs development. The role focuses on developing and validating cutting-edge switching solutions like the Trident and Tomahawk series. As part of this position, you'll be responsible for conducting detailed chip architecture studies, developing comprehensive test plans, and performing both pre-silicon emulation and post-silicon validation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in hardware validation, test development, and debugging capabilities.

The role offers an opportunity to work with state-of-the-art emulation platforms and contribute to the development of next-generation networking solutions. You'll be using various programming languages and tools including Tcl, ITcl, Python, and C/C++ to develop system-level tests. The position requires strong technical skills in hardware validation, familiarity with industry-standard traffic generators, and deep understanding of networking protocols.

Responsibilities For Emulation/Silicon Validation Engineer

  • Conduct detailed studies of chip architecture and microarchitecture
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for emulation and post-silicon validation
  • Develop system-level tests using Tcl, ITcl, Python, C/C++
  • Synthesize Verilog RTL and build models for emulation platforms
  • Perform chip/system-level debugging and root cause analysis
  • Develop and optimize automation scripts and emulation methodologies
  • Create reusable synthesizable design blocks and libraries
  • Plan and execute silicon bring-up and test plans
  • Maintain emulation and post-silicon validation environments
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Design, DV, Software teams

Requirements For Emulation/Silicon Validation Engineer

Python
  • Experience with C/C++ DPI Transactors and SystemVerilog assertions
  • Ability to design and develop synthesizable models for emulation
  • Experience with IXIA/Spirent traffic generators
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and RFC test suites
  • Familiarity with PCIe, SPI, and JTAG protocols
