Clipbook is a platform that ingests, comprehends, summarizes, and surfaces insights and actions from various data sources like news, TV, podcasts, social media, and internet data in real-time across text, audio, and video. They are experiencing rapid growth and working with notable clients such as the City of New York and the Gates Foundation. They aim to become the leading vertical AI company for communications.
They are seeking an Engineering Manager to build, lead, and scale their engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in a management role, and possess strong technical expertise in modern web stacks, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines. Key responsibilities include building and mentoring the team, setting the technical direction, ensuring timely delivery, staying hands-on with debugging and prototyping, driving reliability at scale, and bridging customers and product development. The tech stack includes TypeScript, React, Python, Node, and SQL/NoSQL on AWS/GCP.

Responsibilities
- Build and lead the team, recruiting, mentoring, and growing a high-performing group of engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, speed, and rigor
- Set the technical direction by making foundational architecture and infrastructure decisions across our stack (TypeScript, React, Python, Node, SQL/NoSQL, AWS/GCP)
- Ship with urgency, balancing short-term customer needs with long-term scalability, ensuring prioritization of high-leverage work and avoidance of analysis paralysis
- Stay hands-on by rolling up sleeves to debug, prototype, and ship when needed, even while coaching and managing
- Drive reliability at scale by leading the evolution of our cloud infra, pipelines, and CI/CD processes to support enterprise-grade customers
- Bridge customers and product by working closely with Product and Customer Success to turn user pain points into technical solutions
Requirements
- 5-8 years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years managing engineers
- Strong technical depth in modern web stacks
- Strong technical depth in cloud infra
- Strong technical depth in data pipelines
