Description For Infrastructure Engineer (WAN)

FluidStack, the AI Cloud Platform, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (WAN) to join their team in building GPU supercomputers for leading AI labs, governments, and enterprises. This role focuses on architecting and operating the global network backbone connecting FluidStack's data centers and GPU clusters. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in network infrastructure engineering with expertise in WAN design and operations.

The position involves designing high-performance, secure, and reliable wide-area networks to support data movement across regions. You'll work closely with compute, storage, and facility teams to ensure seamless, low-latency connectivity across the infrastructure footprint. Key responsibilities include implementing WAN links, managing vendor relationships, monitoring network performance, and ensuring security across multi-tenant GPU workloads.

Responsibilities For Infrastructure Engineer (WAN)

  • Architect, implement, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency WAN links across data center sites
  • Select and manage vendor relationships for transport and dark fiber across regional and international circuits
  • Monitor and optimize interconnect performance, including routing, packet loss, and bandwidth usage
  • Ensure security and isolation of network traffic across multi-tenant GPU workloads
  • Automate configuration, provisioning, and monitoring of WAN infrastructure
  • Deploy and maintain site-to-site VPNs, private peering, and direct connects with hyperscalers
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues
  • Implement best practices for redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineering, SREs, and software teams
  • Support future growth by contributing to global network expansion plans

Requirements For Infrastructure Engineer (WAN)

Linux
Kubernetes
  • 7+ years of experience in network infrastructure engineering with a focus on WAN design and operations
  • Deep understanding of network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and IPsec VPNs
  • Proven experience with fiber, transport circuits, and carrier peering arrangements
  • Strong knowledge of Linux networking and systems administration
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, NetBox)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and telemetry tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or custom tooling)
  • Ability to manage projects across multiple sites and time zones
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
