Description For Data Scientist III, Research, Search Quality

Google Search is seeking a Data Scientist III to join their Search Quality team, focusing on reimagining information search capabilities worldwide. This role combines advanced analytics, evaluation, and statistical modeling to enhance user experience and ecosystem impact in search ranking. Working closely with the Web Health team in Zurich, you'll define metrics, conduct experimentation, and drive strategy for ecosystem-related initiatives.

The position requires expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and programming skills in languages like Python, SQL, and R. You'll tackle complex analytical challenges, design and evaluate models, and work with extensive datasets to drive data-informed decisions. As part of Google's commitment to comprehensive compensation, the position offers a competitive base salary range of $141,000-$202,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience or a PhD, with a Master's degree in a quantitative field. Experience with large language models is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Data Scientist III, Research, Search Quality

  • Work with data sets and solve non-routine analytical challenges, apply analytical methods, and conduct analysis including: data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, and presentations
  • Use custom data infrastructure or existing data models as appropriate, design and evaluate models to express and solve defined problems with limited precedent
  • Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context around the questions to answer, as well as the existing and upcoming data infrastructure
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources, format, re-structure, or validate data to ensure quality, and review the dataset to ensure it is ready for analysis
  • Work with the Data Science, Search Quality Engineering and Product teams to enable insights and data-driven decision making for Search Quality

Requirements For Data Scientist III, Research, Search Quality

Python
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • 3 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a PhD degree
  • Experience with using large language models (preferred)
