Description For Data Scientist, Search Platform

The Search Platforms Data Science (SPDS) team at Google focuses on understanding and measuring Search systems. As a Data Scientist in this role, you'll work on defining and developing system metrics to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of Google's search systems and their interactions. You'll partner with Engineering and Product teams on system-level optimizations and collaborate with various teams to understand the impact of system changes on user experience and Google's business.

In this position, you'll have the opportunity to make an impact on billions of people globally by reimagining what it means to search for information. The role involves solving complex engineering challenges and expanding infrastructure while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience.

Key responsibilities include working with large, complex data sets, solving difficult analysis problems, building analysis pipelines, and making business recommendations. You'll also research and develop methods to improve the quality of Google's user-facing products.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in statistics, data analysis, and project management. Preferred qualifications include experience as a statistician or data scientist, expertise in statistical data analysis techniques, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities For Data Scientist, Search Platform

  • Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced problem solving methods as needed
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale
  • Work closely with engineers to identify opportunities for, design, and assess improvements to google products
  • Make business recommendations with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Research and develop analysis, forecasting, and optimization methods to improve the quality of Google's user facing products

Requirements For Data Scientist, Search Platform

Python
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL)
  • 3 years of experience managing analytical projects
