Description For Hardware Design Engineer, FPGA, PCB Design

Google is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join their board and system design team, focusing on crafting solutions for current and future data center deployments. This role is integral to Google's Technical Infrastructure team, which builds and maintains the architecture behind all of Google's user-facing services.

The position involves leading FPGA/CPLD design flows and hardware system projects, working closely with product teams to meet their goals, and collaborating with ASIC, Software, and Verification teams. You'll be responsible for ensuring designs are manufacturable and ready for volume production, while also supporting deployed systems in the data center.

As part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll be working with engineers who take pride in building and maintaining the backbone of Google's vast product portfolio. The team is known for their hands-on approach to problem-solving and their commitment to keeping networks running optimally for the best user experience.

The role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $142,000-$211,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Hardware Design Engineer, FPGA, PCB Design

  • Lead FPGA/Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) design flows using Lattice, Xilinx/AMD, or Altera/Intel devices
  • Lead a sub-system and hardware design on data center hardware products. Drive product from concept to production
  • Bring up systems and execute engineering validation in the lab
  • Gather requirements, define high level architecture, execute hardware design and product validation
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product, and Deployment teams to productize designs and field support

Requirements For Hardware Design Engineer, FPGA, PCB Design

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience working in enterprise hardware systems design, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD design flows using Lattice, Xilinx/AMD, or Altera/Intel devices
  • Experience in RTL development, simulation, and implementation for glue logic applications
  • Experienced in electronics principles, circuit design, PCB design and layout
