Description For Network Implementation Engineer

Google's Network Implementation Engineer role is a crucial position focused on executing deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. As part of Google's Network Team, you'll be responsible for operating the network that serves millions of Internet users globally. The role involves working with various teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.

The position is integral to Google's metro network operations, where the company connects directly with users. You'll be involved in the complete lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in Google's data centers and metro points of presence globally. This spans from site acquisition to construction, and includes everything from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Your primary objective will be building the world's most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support current and future customers. You'll be the initial point of contact for network implementation efforts, facilitating faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business and customers.

The role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $93,000-$136,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Network Implementation Engineer

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans

Requirements For Network Implementation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
