Description For Program Manager I, Infrastructure, Core

Google is seeking a Program Manager I for their Infrastructure, Core team. This role involves leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate with cross-functional partners across the company. The position focuses on curating and delivering technical infrastructure and building blocks for Corp Eng engineers, providing guidance for enterprise developer productivity and quality. The ideal candidate will work in cross-disciplinary teams to improve software building, testing, and deployment processes, while also streamlining and standardizing the technology stack across Corp Eng.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating across global teams and time zones
  2. Executing and improving programs by developing processes and templates
  3. Partnering with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Engineering Managers
  4. Managing communication and visibility across teams and stakeholders
  5. Triaging technical bugs and feature requests

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 1 year of program management experience. Experience with optimizing systems for developer productivity and managing programs across distributed systems is essential. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, experience supporting multi-team efforts, and skills in executing and improving programs.

Responsibilities For Program Manager I, Infrastructure, Core

  • Coordinate across global teams and time zones, collaborate on deliverables, and ensure project plan and timeline alignment
  • Execute and improve programs by developing processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms, managing tasks and tracking progress, as well as ensure smooth delivery of projects at different stages of maturity
  • Partner with Software Engineer (SWE), Product Managers, Engineering Managers to manage bodies of work and ensure solutions are designed, planned, executed, and launched
  • Own communication to bring visibility across teams and key stakeholders
  • Triage technical bugs and feature requests alongside engineering stakeholders for purposes of prioritization, resourcing, and tracking execution
