Google is seeking a Software Engineer for the Client Infrastructure team in Gmail Productivity. This role is part of the Gmail team, which serves over three billion users globally. The position focuses on consumer features, helping users organize their lives and providing meaningful ways to take action on important matters. The team leverages Gen AI, Search, and user data to improve efficiency and user experience in email communication.

As a Software Engineer in this role, you will be working on critical projects for Google's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The job requires versatility, leadership qualities, and enthusiasm to tackle new problems across the full-stack. You'll be part of the team developing next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.

Key responsibilities include designing and materializing Gmail projects, building user-facing features, identifying and solving problems proactively, driving projects to improve development velocity and product excellence, and advocating for a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

The ideal candidate should have experience in Java, technical design, integration testing, and potentially Kotlin, Objective-C, or TypeScript. Experience in Gen AI/ML integrations, web and mobile development, and code sharing across clients is preferred.

  • Design and materialize Gmail projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams and cross-product stakeholders
  • Build user facing features in Gmail, operating in full stack codebase specifically on the shared business logic layers
  • Identify problems proactively and translate them into trackable projects. Work across teams to ensure end-to-end success of the projects
  • Drive projects to improve development velocity, engineering excellence, and product excellence. Maintain a high standard of code health, app architecture, and automated testing
