Description For Technical Lead, Staff Software Engineer

Google is seeking a Technical Lead, Staff Software Engineer to join their Commerce team. This role is critical in developing next-generation technologies that impact billions of users' interactions with information and each other. The position focuses on excelling at inventory selection within the Shopping priority, owning major infrastructure pieces, and being responsible for the comprehensiveness and quality of the Shopping Graph.

Key responsibilities include defining strategies for ML-based approaches to scale data extraction systems, managing the backend for "Autofeeds for Everyone," and leading an engineering team focused on data mining, experiments, logging, and metrics. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, testing, and launching products, as well as strong skills in software design and architecture.

Google Commerce's mission is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers and the best place for retailers/merchants to connect with consumers. The team supports and partners with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, providing tools, technology, and scale to thrive in today's digital world.

The role requires a collaborative working style, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining metrics, developing roadmaps, and creating new infrastructure to enable significant improvements in the Shopping corpus. Responsibilities For Technical Lead, Staff Software Engineer

  • Provide technical guidance and lead an engineering team with a focus on Data mining, Experiments, Logging, Metrics, and the associated infrastructure, on-call rotations, and cross-Product Area client support
  • Define metrics and develop roadmaps for successfully improving Buyable corpus comprehensiveness and quality and widen its applications in Shopping and beyond
  • Partner closely with counterparts in Search and Core Infrastructure organizations to leverage horizontal tools and discuss partnerships and roadmaps
  • Create new-to-Google infrastructure and programs which enable step-function improvements in Shopping corpus
  • Partner with teams throughout Shopping to maximize success

Requirements For Technical Lead, Staff Software Engineer

  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
