Staff Backend Engineer - Databases Upstream

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Databases Upstream team, working on their industry-leading observability platform. This remote position, based in Germany, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major open-source projects including Prometheus, Mimir, and OpenTelemetry.

The role sits within the Databases team, which is responsible for operating critical telemetry databases that power Grafana Cloud and Enterprise solutions. These systems handle metrics, logs, traces, and profiles across multi-tenant distributed systems implemented in Go and running on Kubernetes across major cloud providers.

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you'll be deeply involved in shaping the future of observability tools while working with cutting-edge technology. Your responsibilities will span from maintaining open-source projects to designing and implementing new features, participating in on-call rotations, and occasionally engaging directly with customers.
