Description For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment Field Service Engineer to join their datacenter operations team in Geneva, Switzerland. This role is crucial in maintaining and optimizing the infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud services, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a vast infrastructure portfolio comprising over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical environment systems, including UPS, generators, and cooling systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in datacenter operations or critical environment facilities, with experience in mechanical or electrical engineering. You'll be working in a dynamic environment where environmental sustainability and optimization are key priorities, contributing to Microsoft's position as a world-class cloud provider.

Key responsibilities include maximizing critical environment availability, overseeing maintenance operations, implementing efficiency initiatives, and participating in emergency response planning. Responsibilities For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies
  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased Datacenters
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents
  • Deliver cost/energy efficiency initiatives
  • Support Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans
  • Coordinate CE audits and compliance verification
  • Manage Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity and SLA monitoring
  • Work with regional and global peers to share best practices
  • Provide mentorship across data centers

Requirements For Critical Environment Field Service Engineer

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility
  • Industry experience and college course work
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (UPS, Generator, AHU) preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred
  • Experience working on large scale CE projects preferred
  • Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure preferred
