Description For Sr. Hardware Engineer - DEBUG

Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their debug team. This role is crucial in powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission, supporting over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally.

The position sits within the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team, which is instrumental in defining and delivering operational excellence for hardware manufacturing, improving planning processes, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft's cloud hardware.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you'll lead end-to-end system level debug activities at scale, working with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality standards for Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. The role requires deep technical expertise in modern server architectures and strong debugging capabilities, combined with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include leading debug activities, collaborating with hardware/firmware/software teams, meeting debug/triage SLAs, and developing cutting-edge debug methodologies. You'll be instrumental in solving problems related to mission-critical services and building automation to enhance debug efficiency.

Responsibilities For Sr. Hardware Engineer - DEBUG

  • Lead E2E @scale system level debug activities in the cluster to meet fleet KPIs
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware and software teams for root cause analysis
  • Meet L1-L3 debug/triage SLA
  • Prioritize issues based on technical and business understanding
  • Develop debug methodologies and platform validation plans
  • Solve problems relating to mission critical services
  • Build automation to drive debug efficiency
  • Collaborate with partners to ensure systems meet quality requirements
  • Communicate with stakeholders using data

Requirements For Sr. Hardware Engineer - DEBUG

  • 7+ years of experience in technical leadership as a platform architect, validation architect, or lead debug engineer
  • Deep understanding of modern server architectures – Memory, CPU, storage, or system level firmware
  • Strong remote or hands-on debug experience
  • Platform Debug and validation experience
  • Data analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to plan work and adapt in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
