Senior Backend Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Java engineer to join our existing team and shape the future of global commerce with MODIFI!

Your impact:

• Create, extend and test microservices written in Java / Spring Boot, using a variety of related technologies
• Write clean and maintainable code following best practices, that your colleagues love to read and easily enhance
• Analyze non-technical requirements and discuss your own technical solutions with the team
• Initiate, participate in, and communicate technical architecture designs
• Work closely with Frontend Engineers and Product Managers to build best in class products for our customers
• Extend and advance the data model
• Enrich the team with your competencies in agile software engineering methodology and your experience with microservices-based architectures
• Take full ownership and responsibility for your code throughout the whole software development lifecycle
• Rapidly fix bugs that occur in production

Requirements:

• 4-7 years of experience in software development
• At least 4 years of experience in developing, maintaining and deploying microservice-based applications written in Spring Boot
• Expert in Java 8 (or newer versions) with sound knowledge and experience in clean design of modern REST APIs
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), automated testing (e.g., JUnit and Mockito), and data management with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Robust knowledge of Spring Data, data modeling and SQL databases
• Experience with asynchronous / event-driven systems is a plus
• Team player with the ability to work in fast-paced, zero-politics environments
• Fluent in English
