Description For Ground Operations Engineer

Northwood Space is revolutionizing space connectivity through innovative communications technologies. As a Ground Operations Engineer, you'll lead the design, planning, sourcing, and construction of ground station sites worldwide. This role combines technical engineering expertise with hands-on project execution and ownership. You'll work with both internal teams and external partners to meet ambitious timelines.

The position requires a strong background in engineering with 5+ years of experience, focusing on ground station operations and infrastructure. You'll be responsible for site layout development, hardware integration, location analysis, and maintaining international partnerships. The role involves significant travel to support antenna deployments and requires a deep understanding of network infrastructure and system operations.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or science, experience with electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines. Knowledge of power systems, fiber networks, and system telemetry is highly valued. Responsibilities For Ground Operations Engineer

  • Own business outcome of where we place sites, how they are designed, and how quickly we execute them
  • Develop site layouts and source hardware to integrate antenna network
  • Analyze and trade different site locations, relating them to critical business metrics
  • Build and maintain relationships with international partners
  • Travel to sites and support antenna deploys
  • Support real-time operations and review network and antenna health

Requirements For Ground Operations Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering, supply chain, or operations
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international ground station sites
  • US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for US Department of State authorizations (ITAR compliance)
  • Ability to create and read electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with system telemetry and operations rotation
  • Knowledge of fiber network infrastructure and rack hardware
