Okta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Developer Productivity team, focusing on building and maintaining their critical development infrastructure. As The World's Identity Company, Okta enables secure access and authentication across technologies and devices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on scaling infrastructure to the next generation, handling tens of thousands of tests for every commit automatically.

The position combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation tools. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies in AWS and will have the freedom to experiment and implement new solutions in the build and CI system. The role involves close collaboration with Development, QA, and OPS teams to continuously innovate and enhance the build and automation infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in continuous delivery pipelines, cloud infrastructures, and modern development tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and various build systems. You'll be part of a fast-paced, innovative team with a weekly release cycle and individual ownership, working on projects that directly impact developer productivity and software delivery efficiency.

Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer (Developer Productivity)

  • Build, maintain, and improve highly-automated build, release and testing infrastructure
  • Create and code tools for internal use to support continuous delivery
  • Team up with Development, QA and OPS to innovate and enhance build and automation infrastructure
  • Collaborate with peers and stake-holders to create new tools/process/technology
  • Work with internal customers to roll-out projects and process, monitor adoption, collect feedback

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer (Developer Productivity)

  • Experience in developing Continuous Delivery pipelines using Java, Jenkins, AWS, Docker, Python, Ruby, Bash
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD release pipelines
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructures, such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Experience working with Gradle, Bazel, Artifactory, Docker registry, npm registry
  • Experience with AWS, its services, and its supporting tools
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion
  • Experience in Kubernetes is a plus
