Pixar's Software R&D department (Tools) is seeking talented software engineers to join their Tools Applications teams, playing a crucial role in developing and maintaining the software and pipeline used by production artists to create animated feature films. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Tools Applications team, you'll be working in a dynamic environment with several films in production concurrently. You'll support a wide range of production stages—from asset creation like set building, shading, and character rigging, to shot production tasks such as cinematography, animation, character simulation, FX, lighting, and rendering.
The role requires strong expertise in modern C++ and software engineering principles, with at least five years of professional experience. You'll be working directly with both technical and non-technical artists, debugging and resolving time-sensitive issues, and collaborating with graphics research scientists to implement experimental technology.
The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $160,565 to $207,790 per year, based on experience and qualifications. You'll be working at Pixar's Emeryville location, contributing to the studio that has created beloved films like "Toy Story," "The Incredibles," "Inside Out," and "Coco."
Key technical requirements include strong C++ programming skills, understanding of computer graphics mathematics, experience with multithreaded and GPU programming, and familiarity with 3D DCC applications, USD, Qt, and Linux.
