Procon Consulting, a professional services firm based in McLean, VA, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for their Huntsville, AL location. This role will support the FBI's Architectural Engineering Services Unit (AESU), focusing on comprehensive electrical engineering support for renovation and construction projects.
The position involves designing, reviewing, and overseeing electrical systems while ensuring compliance with FBI standards and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical system design and construction, with a minimum of 10 years of experience (20+ years preferred).
Key responsibilities include reviewing electrical design drawings, performing load calculations, conducting site visits, and managing quality assurance during construction. The role requires expertise in various systems including lighting, power distribution, grounding, and UPS systems. The engineer will also be involved in designing power systems for data centers and communication equipment.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $115,000 - $150,000 annually, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) with employer match. Candidates must possess an active Secret clearance and preferably hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities For Senior Electrical Engineer
- Review electrical design drawings and specifications for systems
- Perform electrical load calculations, size equipment, and review product specifications
- Conduct site visits for data collection, system evaluation, and recommendations
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues
- Interpret and apply National Electrical Code and other standards
- Act as a consultant to establish design standards and construction criteria
- Manage quality assurance and quality control during construction
- Write scopes of work, review RFIs, and prepare field reports
- Design power systems for communication equipment and data center facilities
- Coordinate cable tray layouts and ensure appropriate conduit conditions
- Review photometric plans, sound masking, and PA systems
- Assist in project scheduling, documentation, and report preparation
- Collaborate with team members to resolve project challenges
Requirements For Senior Electrical Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical system design and construction (20+ years preferred)
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, communication, and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, federal standards, and FBI design requirements
- Must possess an active Secret clearance
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Experience with data centers and workspace optimization preferred
