Principal Data Engineer

Quantexa, an innovative data analytics company founded in 2016, is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join their Delivery team. As a Principal Data Engineer, you'll be the key technical decision maker for delivery projects, leading a team of junior engineers while working hands-on with sophisticated end-to-end big data solutions. The role combines technical leadership, mentoring, and direct engagement with business teams and clients. You'll be working with technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Scala, and Elasticsearch, deploying solutions across various cloud platforms including Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon.

The position offers significant impact, tackling challenging problems in fraud detection, financial crime, data management, risk assessment, and customer intelligence. You'll be part of a diverse, multicultural team comprising 47 nationalities speaking over 20 languages, contributing to an inclusive and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in a lead role. While Scala is the primary language, strong engineering principles in Java, Python, or equivalent languages are valued. You'll need expertise in production-level data processing systems, modern development tooling, and strong technical communication skills.
