Job Description
Smack Technologies is dedicated to strengthening deterrence and ensuring readiness to prevent conflict in an uncertain world. They deliver solutions that redefine what's possible by combining expertise in technology and warfighting with a focus on real-world challenges. They're looking for a backend-leaning Software Engineer with full-stack responsibilities and an active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
In this role, you'll build core product and platform capabilities, deploy and fine-tune reinforcement learning models in classified environments, work closely with the science team to translate mathematical models into production-ready code, and take ownership of critical backend systems and data integration. The tech stack includes Python, Go, and TypeScript. This is an opportunity to be an early member of a high-functioning team, with ex-Meta, ex-Palantir, military, and technology leaders who have a firsthand experience of the extreme challenges of combat.
The salary range is $170K - $200K, along with competitive equity. The role is in-person in El Segundo, CA, with up to 25% travel for customer integrations.
Responsibilities
- Build out core product and platform capabilities
- Deploy and fine-tune reinforcement learning models in classified environments, integrating classified sensor data
- Work closely with our science team to translate cutting-edge mathematical models into robust, production-ready code
- Take ownership of critical backend systems and data integration, ensuring high performance and accuracy
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Must be backend-leaning with full-stack dev experience
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance
