Tesla is seeking a Chassis & Body in White Test Engineer for their Semi program. This role is part of Tesla's Reliability and Test team, focusing on developing and executing component and system level testing of vehicle chassis and body structural components. The position involves working with servo hydraulic test equipment, both in-house and at external labs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting hands-on component and system level durability and strength tests
  • Collaborating with reliability and design engineers for test planning
  • Developing test fixtures using CAD
  • Performing detailed inspections and root cause analysis
  • Managing data acquisition and instrumentation
  • Post-processing test data and creating detailed reports
  • Maintaining test equipment and lab expansions
  • Coordinating with third-party labs for testing

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Experience with hydraulic or electric actuator testing
  • Proficiency in instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • CAD design experience
  • Strong hands-on engineering skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Responsibilities For Chassis & Body in White Test Engineer, Semi

  • Conduct hands-on component and system level durability and strength tests using MTS servo hydraulic systems
  • Work with reliability and design engineers for test planning activities
  • Develop test fixtures using CAD
  • Conduct detailed inspections and root cause failures
  • Conduct data acquisition and instrumentation of sensors
  • Post process test data and make detailed test reports
  • Be involved with general test equipment maintenance and lab expansions
  • Work with third party labs to coordinate and conduct testing as needed

Requirements For Chassis & Body in White Test Engineer, Semi

Linux
  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with testing, using hydraulic or electric actuators preferred
  • Experience with instrumentation of sensors and data acquisition systems
  • Experience designing in CAD
  • Proven track record as a hands-on Engineer
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
