Description For Mechanical Design Engineer, Interiors

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, Interior Engineering in Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, releasing, and launching complete Interior systems for future Tesla vehicle product lines. You'll be part of a team that pushes boundaries, innovates, and executes world-class interiors that excel in all critical attributes of an Interior System.

Your role will involve:

  • Engineering and developing world-class interior systems that exceed styling and functional targets while complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with Tesla's design/styling and Engineering teams throughout the entire product cycle.
  • Participating in an iterative process with all stakeholders to deliver the optimal balance of form, function, performance, and cost.
  • Implementing processes and material selections to achieve world-class execution of automotive interior craftsmanship and fit & finish.
  • Completing and releasing interior components, sub-systems, and detail designs, utilizing a mix of in-house design and supplier engineering.
  • Utilizing DFSS methodologies during the design, validation, and launch of the program.
  • Collaborating with key interior system and plastic component suppliers.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure interior system manufacturing, assembly feasibility, and serviceability.

You'll bring:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of experience in Product Development / Design Engineering.
  • First principles, physics-based thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of latest design technologies used in Product Engineering.
  • Experience with complex assemblies, engineering principles in design, prototyping, and production.
